Boeta Cassiem

It’s easy to walk past the Auwal Masjid without giving it a second glance; to see it as just another mosque in the city. But, established in 1794, Auwal Masjid is so much more than a place of worship. It stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, faith, and history in Cape Town. In conversation with Boeta Cassiem, we explored the rich cultural and historical significance of this iconic landmark and the challenges it faces in the midst of change.

Come and see the Big 5 or, better yet, collect them all from MonkeyBiz Bead Studio. This is a non-profit organisation committed to keeping the tradition of beadwork alive while creating opportunities for women in under-resourced communities. From bananas to bunnies, MonkeyBiz creates charming artwork that has been sold internationally. As a heritage brand ourselves, we had to pop in with Mathapelo Ngaka-Mtati, co-founder of this organisation, to discuss the impact their products have had on both local communities and the global market.

@bushywopp

Our new @bushywopp mural features some of the Cape Town OGs we interviewed back in December. It’s painted with purpose, made for the people who shape our communities. Big love to Bushy for bringing the wall to life and giving an OG community like Woodstock some new school style!This one’s for all of you. Woodstock, Dublin Street

Diego Adams

He’s the youngest school principal in the province, but he’s still an OG! We spoke with @the_dna_94 about our #OGTaste mural in Woodstock – featuring plenty of ambient noise – because what’s Main Road without the buzz? #WeMosAllFamily

OG Tailor Cape Town

This tailor business has been family-owned since 1998. We spoke to them about clothing, culture, and being Cape Town OGs, like JiVE. #OGTaste

Yaseen Barnes

@ya_a_seen_him talking about the new JiVE OG mural gives it a whole new life 😄 this is why he’s one of our favourite comedians (are we allowed to say that? 👀)
